09 Nov Core Beliefs
Last year when I talked with Dr. Mate I brought up the story of my father. He struggled his whole life with different psychosomatic issues. After he retired he began to have symptoms of both rheumatoid arthritis and ALS. Dr. Mate writes a great deal about the connection between the repression of emotions and auto-immune diseases. In the clip I mentioned that although my father was working to overcome his issues, I thought that maybe it was too late for him. Dr. Mate disagreed. He pointed out that it’s never too late and counseled that the most important thing to do is discover what one’s core beliefs are. One then needs to figure out where those core beliefs come from, and whether or not they are truly valid.
