Upside down

Upside down

– .1

Sometimes we need to take a new perspective in order to free ourselves from what we believe. At least a few times a week I walk in the meadow behind my house; something that was integral to the editing of “All The Rage”. My goal is usually to use it as a time to meditate. However, much of the time I get caught up in old patterns of thinking, and I also end up taking a lot of pictures. Less meditating than I’d like takes place. However, when I take pictures I do try to do it in a meditative manner; letting go of expectation and finding what comes. Still, the act of making photos often involves building upon previous experience. One thing I’ve learned is that reflected pictures of water, turned upside down, often are stunning in a subtle way. Yesterday I had to walk carefully in the meadow because we had torrential rains the night before. The creek was running very high. I walked up to the pond and it too was high. I noticed both the heavy pollen that accumulated at the edges, and the startling clouds. When I shared them several people made the connect to “Starry Night”. I went out again this morning and the light and the sky were different so I made a few more images. *** added in a few more this morning again. ****** some from 4pm the following day

UPDATE:
I went out yet again today because the response to these images has been so profound. I think the strongest ones yet got made this afternoon. I want to make a couple of prints in editions of 5- if you like a particular image can you comment below with the ones you might want printed. The images are subtly different so I’m curious what works. Prints will be 11 by 14 or 16 by 20 and probably $100 post paid in the US.

There is a short pine tree in the center of #2, 4&5 that reminds me of a seated Buddha figure. (But I often see things that aren’t there) These are fascinating.
